Celebrating Sitka Women and Queer People who do extraordinary things against all odds.
Nine individuals will be honored who embody SAFV’s main values: safety, respect, community. The honorees will be broken up into three age groups, high school (13-19), young adult (20-34), and adult (35 and older).
There will be three awards per age group, one for safety, one for community, and one for respect.
Here is how we define these values:
-
SAFETY: living without fear or threat of violence and creating a place to heal
-
RESPECT: honoring and upholding the personal beliefs and values of others and ourselves. Respect is both given and received
-
COMMUNITY: a sense of connectedness and togetherness with those we are involved with and to whom and for whom we are responsible

Honoring Women started SAFV’s tradition of celebrating those who uplift others and make a positive difference in our community; it has since evolved into the Sitka Rose Awards, honoring women and queer people across a broader age range.
